What is Ginger Sushi Boutique?
Wildly popular and innovative sushi franchise poised for rapid rise in the United States
We’re known in Canada as Sushi Shop™, and over the past 18 years in business, we have transformed Canadian sushi culture. Now we are taking our concept to the United States as Ginger Sushi Boutique™, where we will bring our revolutionary approach to sushi and Japanese cuisine to the $3 billion sushi industry.
Sushi is not a fad. Sushi is a phenomenon. SeafoodSource reports that sushi is American diners’ favorite seafood, particularly among the millennial generation. While Ginger Sushi serves excellent traditional sushi rolls, we go further by taking a genre-bending, postmodern approach to some of our other signature items. Our Sushi Tacos feature lobster, salmon or tuna in a crispy wonton shell, and our Sushi Burritos take traditional sushi flavor profiles and roll them in rice — Ginger Sushi style!
Our brand’s playful, innovative approach has won us thousands of fans in Canada, where we have introduced vast numbers of people to sushi. In the United States, where innovation is championed by consumers with increasingly adventurous eating habits, Ginger Sushi is poised to become a dominant brand.
“We have been quite successful in Canada, and that’s because we’re not your run-of-the-mill sushi shop,” says Marc Benzacar, Senior Vice President with Sushi Shop. “We are better in terms of quality food offerings and everything about our concept is original to us. We have unique creations constructed by highly trained chefs who have been with us from the very beginning. We work every day to innovate and create things you likely won’t find anywhere else.
“You can come to Ginger Sushi 10 times and eat something different each time, and each time you’ll have a completely different extraordinary experience. In the United States, where the market for sushi is growing, we are looking for entrepreneurs to embark upon a Ginger Sushi adventure with our brand’s exciting and proven concept.”
You don’t need to know how to prepare sushi to franchise with us
Sushi is known for its delicate intricacy and its aesthetic beauty, which might explain why most Americans go out for sushi instead of trying to make it at home. Many believe that mastering the art of sushi making takes years, but Ginger Sushi does not require franchisees to have any experience in preparing sushi. Or even in the restaurant industry! In fact, the wide majority of our franchisees with thriving businesses in Canada did not know the first thing about how to prepare sushi.
We provide an intensive four weeks of training at one of the brand’s operating restaurants, where we teach you how to expertly prepare and serve our brand’s products. While you’re in the restaurant, you also will work in every role and learn every aspect of how to manage your Ginger Sushi business: how to take inventory, how to greet customers, and how to lead your crew. This training will help you find the confidence you need to own and run a thriving business.
In addition, you will be supported by Kahala Brands™ and MTY Food Group™, which gross more than $2 billion in annual sales and has 5,500 locations open in nearly 30 countries around the world. Kahala Brands portfolio includes brands like Cold Stone Creamery® and Pinkberry®, in its portfolio, which means you will have access to a robust, industry-leading support network that includes extensive marketing assistance, ongoing coaching and more.
“We’re looking for people to franchise with us who are passionate about sushi and have an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to be a part of their community,” says John Wuycheck, Senior Vice President of Franchise Development with Ginger Sushi Boutique. “Ginger Sushi is backed by a franchisor with more than 50 brands. The brand’s Canadian presence has grown to over 150 locations, and we’re excited to bring this first-to-market, proven concept to the United States.”
