How is Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop Different?
One-of-a-kind sushi menu is a genre-bending approach to sushi and Japanese cuisine
Given the tremendous popularity of Asian cuisine and sushi in mainstream culture, it is shocking that there are only 4,000 sushi restaurants in the United States(1). While sushi is almost ubiquitous in grocery stores, airports and baseball stadiums, Americans have few options in terms of where to get high-quality, affordable sushi. More importantly, from an investment perspective, there is no significant competition in the sushi segment, as there is no name brand that dominates the $3 billion industry.
In Canada, where our brand is known as Sushi Shop™, we succeeded in disrupting and revolutionizing the sushi segment by innovating on tradition — creating something that is both uniquely our own and entirely new. As a result, our brand has grown to more than 150 locations in Canada, where the brand is a part of daily life for thousands of people. It is our goal to replicate that growth in the US by providing a concept that is radically different from American sushi restaurants and that delivers sushi in the adventurous and playful fashion that Americans love.
The difference is apparent: When you walk into a Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop™, it is immediately clear that you are experiencing something completely new. The decor is high-end and chic, invoking a feeling of calm and zen. The colors that are dancing off the customers’ plates are eye-catching and exciting. Sushi at Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop franchise is an art form, an homage to the aesthetic beauty always associated with traditional sushi. But we take it further. We aim to stimulate your senses and inspire your soul.
We go far beyond the traditional and cliche California rolls with our own creations, which seek to blend high art with new and exciting flavor profiles. The Blossom Collection™ artfully shapes rolls such as our Teriyaki Salmon and Salmon Truffle into bursting petal designs. The Temari Collection literally rolls exciting flavor profiles such as Tuna Tataki and Crispy Lobster into delicious, bite-sized balls.
Taking sushi where it’s never gone before
Our brand’s radically different approach to sushi is part of our plan to make it more accessible to more people than ever before. By blending traditional sushi with more accessible food genres, our chef-inspired menu is full of innovative, original creations that excite the most devoted sushi fanatics and appeal to sushi newbies.
Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop franchise offers such genre-bending products as Sushi Pizza, Sushi Burritos, Sushi Tacos and more. The ability to offer products that consumers cannot get anywhere else, at a price point that is competitive with other QSR lunch and dinner meals, is a tremendous advantage and key differentiator for our brand.
Far beyond sushi: We offer a completely original take on Japanese cuisine
Sushi is enormously popular, but we know that not everyone has tried it — either because of a lack of opportunity or because of dietary restrictions. We also know that not everyone who has tried sushi likes it, and even the most diehard sushi lovers sometimes are not in the mood. Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop seeks to accommodate all of these moods and appetites by offering a diverse menu that takes our innovative and genre-bending approach into other aspects of Japanese cuisine.
For example, our Poke bowls offer fresh approaches to a current food craze. For the uninitiated, Poke bowls are delicious, nutrient-packed, flavor explosions that utilize several of the core sushi ingredients — but styled more like a salad. While Poke bowls are incredibly popular in the United States, we are one of the largest sellers of Poke bowls in Canada because our approach is entirely different. Our brand’s chefs have created delicious variations on the Poke bowl, including dishes featuring chicken and also vegetarian bowls.
In addition to our wildly popular Poke bowls, Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop also offers a collection of sushi burgers, salads and appetizers to cater to different customer demographics: vegetarians, vegans and those who prefer chicken to fish.
We also cater to customers who are in a hurry. All of the restaurants feature a large grab-n-go space that allows customers to pick up pre-packaged and freshly prepared sushi combos, sushi burritos and more, which helps to increase our franchisees’ bottom line in a meaningful way during the crucial lunch and dinner rushes.
